Motorola has shipped two million MOTOMING units in Greater China, taking 50 per cent of the country's pen-based PDA market. The company boasts that the phone by saying it has a compact size with a transparent flip-cover and three different colour choices.

"We are both excited and gratified to witness the incredible success that MOTOMING has seen in China, it has broken all records for the PDA segment," said Motorola's Michael Tatelman, corporate vice-president and general manager, Mobile Devices Business, North Asia. "We are particularly proud because MOTOMING was entirely conceived, designed, developed, and manufactured here in China, in order to meet the specific and particular needs of China's sophisticated modern mobile consumers."

According to Motorolla, MOTOMING has been noticed for its design, especially the distinctive transparent single-piece flip cover that allows viewing of the large display when closed. Equally important to designers is the fact that the unit assembles without visible screws or other fastenings that would detract from its appearance.

MOTOMING's success comes from its design and features. In addition to the transparent flip cover; MOTOMING boasts a large display, high-resolution two mega-pixel camera, a business card reader, a bilingual talking dictionary, and Chinese handwriting recognition software, the company claimed.

In addition the phone also features a new push-e-mail feature that is compliant with China Mobile's service, enabling phone users to have e-mails delivered directly to their MOTOMING, rather than having to retrieve them. Other additions include built in 'Air-Sync' that claims to make the MOTOMING capable of synching with Microsoft Exchange for easy organisation, and built-in QR Code software, which greatly simplifies the task of making entries into the handset's address book and WAP sites, the company said.
