Marcus Yeager shot the University of Mobile to a 51-44 victory over Xavier on Saturday in a Gulf Coast Athletic Conference men's basketball game in New Orleans. Yeager scored 23 points as he made seven of his 12 3-point shots in the game. In the second half, Yeager hit five 3-pointers in a row, scoring 15 consecutive points for the Rams as they broke from a tie game to a seven-point lead. Aaron Burgess had 13 points and 13 rebounds for Xavier (7-5, 0-2). Mobile (8-6, 2-0) hosts Tougaloo at 7:30 p.m. Monday.

Spring Hill College (6-3, 2-0 GCAC) defeated Tougaloo College (2-7, 1-1 GCAC) in conference action at the Outlaw Center.The Badgers led the Bulldogs 41-31 at halftime and did not let up in the second half. Junior forward Cash Covington led SHC with 25 points and nine rebounds, while freshman guard Marcus Coleman added 22 points, including 6-of-7 from beyond the arc. The Bulldogs were led by Kevin McCoy with 23 points.
The Badgers continue their four-game homestand Thursday when they host GCAC foe Xavier University. Tipoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.
-- Northwest-Shoals 82, Faulkner State 76
Faulkner State's R.J. Hofler had 23 points and 17 rebounds, but Northwest-Shoals still managed to beat the Sun Chiefs n an Alabama Community College Conference men's basketball game in Phil Campbell. DeMarcus Palmer scored 17 points and Anthony Wallen 13 for the Patriots (2-7), who broke a seven-game losing streak. Paul Holmes scored 13 points for Faulkner State (5-4), which visits Maryville College at 6 p.m. Thursday.
WOMEN
-- Xavier 73, Mobile 60
Xavier stopped Mobile's five-game winning streak by downing the Rams in a Gulf Coast Athletic Conference game in New Orleans.
The game was tied 42-42 with 13 minutes to play before Xavier pulled away from No. 20 Mobile. Xavier made eight of its 15 3-point shots while the Rams were just 3 of 14 from behind the arc.
Dominee Matthews scored 17 points and Brittany Whitmore 16 for Xavier (10-5, 2-0). Emmerentia Ledwaba had 13 points and eight rebounds for Mobile (9-5, 1-1), which hosts Tougaloo at 5:30 p.m. Monday.
-- Spring Hill 70 Tougaloo 63
The Spring Hill (2-8, 2-0 GCAC) picked up its second consecutive win, beating GCAC foe Tougaloo College at the Outlaw Center.
Spring Hill fought back hard after ending the first half down 35-28. SHC outscored TC 42-28 in the second half to take the win.
Three Badgers reacheddouble-figures with senior guard Maria Rodriguez and sophomore forward Keisha Forbes leading the way with 17 points each. The Lady Bulldogs were led by Jessica Mitchell with 18 points. The Lady Badgers continue their three-game homestand Thursday when they host GCAC opponent Xavier University at 5:30 p.m.
-- Northwest-Shoals 60, Faulkner State 52
Northwest-Shoals evened its record at 8-8 with a victory over Faulkner State in an Alabama Community College Conference game in Phil Campbell. Jamie Chambers scored 13 points and Brandi Burris 12 for Northwest-Shoals. Corneshia Hollis scored 16 points and Teira Quick 11 for the Sun Chiefs (5-6), who host Keesler Air Force Base at 7 p.m. Thursday.
