T-Mobile has launched the white version of the chic, slim, and powerful BlackBerry Pearl. It's essentially the same thing as the original black and chrome version, but this one might go better with your iPod or Jack Purcells.
Black or white, this phone rocks in my book. In a sleek body that's truly candy-bar-sized, the Pearl combines all of the smart phone functions typical of other BlackBerry devices—real-time email, smart SureType predictive text, document editing, maps, calendar—with fun features like a still camera and media player.Turns out that T-Mobile (and now Cingular/AT&T) have actually managed to get more mainstream users to go BlackBerry. According to T-Mobile, three out of four Pearl users have switched up from a regular phone. And most Pearl owners are using the device for personal email rather than work email (about 96 percent use it to send email each week). Until the iPhone comes out in June, the BlackBerry Pearl is the smartphone to beat. The Pearl is supposed to be available now for $149 (with a two-year contract), but I haven't seen it yet on the T-Mobile site. Now, there's the issue of the white color: Do you think this phone, and white phones in general, appeal more to men or women? In fact, with all these new color phones coming out—mint and cherry Chocolate phones, for example—I wonder if anyone has any strong feelings on phone colors and gender. Or are all phones unisex?
