Samsung and LG launch solar-powered cellphones!

Samsung and LG seem all set to unveil two solar-powered handsets next week. Samsung takes the initiative in launching Blue-Earth, powered by solar panels, placed on the back of the phone. Made from recycled plastic, this phone runs on energy-efficient Eco-Mode and flaunts an en-suite pedometer, dubbed Eco-Walk.

LG too has announced a new solar-powered phone, that’s a probable version of KF750 Secret. This handset will allow you to talk for 3 minutes for every 10 minutes of solar charge time. It will also be a bio-plastic-made cellphone.

No words on suggested pricing and availability as yet. So, stay tuned!

Solar powered iPhone case is partly eco-friendly!

While Apple will take its time to come up with a solar powered iPhone, a firm called Solar Arcadia has come up with a solar powered casing for your iPhone. This eco-friendly iPhone case is basically a lithium ion battery pack with a solar panel that doubles as a flip cover for the iPhone. This is a real green idea, except for the fact that the case is made of leather. Anyway, this solar case features an LED status indicator. They claim that an empty iPhone battery can be recharged in 3 hours when the included Li-Ion battery pack is full. When the battery pack is empty, you can get your iPhone recharged directly from the power of the Sun itself. The case, available in SideFlip and Leather Flip models, is not really elegant, but then, it’s about showing your eco values. Yours for $45.95!
