LG KC780 8-megapixel slider photo leaks

All is well in the land of 8 megapixels today. Or, at least, it would seem that way. After just talking about the Samsung Pixon, which was announced today, this image of the LG KC780 crossed my screen. Yes, this one has 8-megapixels, too.

Photographers can rejoice, because there will soon be many more camera phone options on the market that give you a chance to take a decent shot when out and about. The LG KC780 is dubbed “the slimmest 8MP to date” by LG and that very well may be true. However, Samsung claims something similar about their Pixon device calling it “the slimmest full-touch 8MP.”

In the end, both LG and Samsung could be right! However, we won’t know for certain until we get our hands on the full specs for KC780. We do know that it will likely offer quad-band GSM support and limited touchscreen features. 30fps video recording is also expected.

Is That SureType on the Sony Ericsson P5 Slider?

We caught a sneak peek at the Sony Ericsson P5 late last week, and now we've received another teaser picture.

In the latest leaked photo, we get to take a closer look at the keypad that is hidden within the Sony Ericsson P5 "Paris" slider phone and it doesn't look like a standard 12-key numeric.As noted last week, the width of the phone seemed to provide almost enough room for a full QWERTY keyboard, which would be great for people who love sending emails and text messages on the go.

In the picture provided by the Unofficial Sony Ericsson Blog, it appears that the P5 is not equipped with QWERTY, opting instead for a SureType-like keyboard. This would represent a similar form factor as the T-Mobile Shadow by Samsung.SureType could represent a good compromise between the compactness of a numeric keypad and the utility of a full QWERTY keyboard.

Not at CTIA: Nokia unveils 4 phones for the emerging market

At the Growing Together 2008 Conference in South Africa today Nokia released 4 devices. Is that a Prism? For the entry market?! Find out after the jump along with the other 3 devices.

The Nokia 5000 is a 90 Euro device with a 1.3 megapixel camera, 240×320 resolution 65k color 2 inch screen, dual band (one version to be 900/1800, the other 850/1900), 700 mAh battery all in a 11.1 mm thin package scheduled to come out in the second quarter of this year.

The Nokia 2680 Slide will cost 75 Euros when it comes out in the third quarter of this year. It has a VGA camera, again dual band with 2 versions like the Nokia 5000, 128×160 resolution screen, 860 mAh battery and it is a hair under 15 mm thin.



The Nokia 7070 Prism is the cheapest fashion phone I've ever seen out of Nokia coming in at only 50 Euros when it hits stores in the third quarter of this year. You'll get a dual band device, 128×160 resolution screen, 16 mm thin device, but with a ton of style. It looks like a clamshell version of the 7500.


The Nokia 1680 Classic is the 2680 in a monoblock form factor, but it is coming out in Q2.

Sony Ericsson announce T303 compact budget slider

The mysterious Sony Ericsson slider we saw last month has been officially announced as the T303. Triband GSM (900/1800/1900 or 850/1800/1900), the cellphone is aimed very much at the entry-level market; available in black or silver, it has a metal and chrome finish and mirror-effect screen, measures 83 x 47 x 14.7 mm and weighs 93 grams. Bluetooth is present - in case you want to offload photos from the 1.3-megapixel camera - as is an FM radio and Sony Ericsson’s TrackID music identification app.

Otherwise it’s all very simplistic: a 1.8-inch 128 x 160 display, 8MB of internal memory with no way to expand storage, a basic collection of organiser apps, support for MP3 ringtones and a WAP 2.0 internet browser. Sony Ericsson are promising up to 9hrs talktime or 400hrs standby.

It’ll launch mid-2008 in “selected markets”. No price has been suggested.

Samsung M250: First Slider Power Vision Phone

Aside from the Samsung Ace smartphone, Sprint Nextel also introduced the Samsung M250 into their line. The Samsung M250 is the first ever slider Power Vision Phone. The M250 which measures 4.01" x 2.04" x 0.5" and is less than 2.8 ounces in weight, features a 2.1" TFT display with 176x22 pixels resolution. It has a 1.3 megapixel camera, and supports Sprint Navigation powered by TeleNav, High speed web browsing, SMS voice and text messaging, built-in MP3 player, microSD card slot supporting up to 4GB, and music streaming. It can even be used as a modem for your computer. The Samsung M250 is now available for $49.99 with a $50 mail-in rebate.

Samsung Demos SGH-F250 Slider

Samsung took the chance at the 2008 Mobile World Congress last week to demo the SGH-F250, a slider handset with a 1.3 megapixel camera and Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP support. This handset also sports dedicated music playback buttons and an enhanced music library with support for ID3 tags.

A speakerphone is built-in on the F250, which measures 103mm x 48mm x 13.5mm (4" x 1.9" x .5") and also offers connectivity via tri-band GSM (900/1800/1900MHz) support. Pricing and availability were not announced.

Stylish Samsung Dual SIM Slider Hits UK

The 'DuoS D880' is the first mainstream focused dual sim handset I've seen and it lets users operate two sims from different networks or two numbers from the same network. Users can make and receive calls, send and receive text messages and even email and surf the web with user profile settings switching automatically.


Incoming calls, emails and text messages also highlight onscreen from which sim they have come and users can allocate each sim its own ringtone and message sounds.

Beyond this, the D880 is also a rather competent handset in its own right featuring a 2.3in QVGA display, 3.2MP camera, FM tuner and Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP. On the downside there is no 3G and the extra tech required to operate two sims simultaneously bulks it up to 18.9mm thick.

The D880 goes on sale from next month and Sammy has taken the unusual step of revealing its RRP (£350) which may suggest networks have passed it over still working under the misnomer that it is a niche product. Wakey, wakey...

Samsung T729 Slider Phone Soon to be Announced by T-Mobile

T-Mobile has begun advertising the new Samsung T729 SuperType Slider mobile phone. T-Mobile will soon release the Blast a.k.a T729.


The features of the Samsung T729 are 1.3 megapixel camera with video capturing capabilities, Bluetooth and will support BlackBerry connect. It also has TFT color display with up to 262k colors, 11MB of internal memory with a microSD cards slot. It delivers a resolution of 176 x 220 pixels.

Samsung T729 also comes with a phonebook capacity of up to 1000 entries and 800 mAH Lithium-Ion battery, which offers talk time up to 5 hours and 8.3 days of standby time. It also provides 850 MHz; 900 MHz; 1800 MHz; 1900 MHz band.

Additionally, it also offers instant messaging, speakerphone, consumer e-mail, SMS, MMS, picture caller ID, voice notes, Hi-Fi ringers, wallpapers, games, alarm clock and calculator.

At 2.8 ounces, it measures 4.16 x 2.04 x 0.5 inches. The slider phone is the follow up of the T19 clamshell. Price and launch date is not yet fixed.

Nokia 6500 Slider and Classic

Nokia has expanded its mid-range portfolio by offering two distinct handset with accent on fine craftsmanship and 3G connectivity. The Nokia 6500 classic and Nokia 6500 slide are unique with their simplistic, yet refined metallic design and rich features.

Despite being gathered under a common 6500-series model line the two handsets are pretty different when it comes to specifications and form factor.

The Nokia 6500 classic features a seamless body case made from anodized aluminum and measures only 9.5 mm in thickness.

With a classic bar form factor, it is based on the S40 user interface and features dual band 3G support (WCDMA 850/2100) and quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE support.

Focusing mainly on data transfers and streaming content instead on video calls, the Nokia 6500 classic doesn't feature a video calls camera and its main photographic gear is a 2 megapixel camera with a dual LED flash. It also offers a 2" 16M color TFT display with QVGA resolution and 1GB of internal memory. If that is not enough, unfortunately, the handset doesn't have a memory card slot.

The Nokia 6500 is also equipped with a microUSB port to meet all cable connectivity needs such as charging, listening to music and transferring data.

The Nokia 6500 slide comes in the slider form factor (obviously!) and is jam-packed with features. It is again based on the S40 user interface and features dual band 3G support (WCDMA 850/2100) and quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE support. This photo-centric handset has a video calls camera and is the first Nokia feature phone to be equipped with a 3.2 megapixel camera. The camera itself has Carl Zeiss optics, auto focus and a dual LED flash plus video recording in VGA resolution (15fps).

The Nokia 6500 slide also boasts a 2.2" 16M color TFT display with a QVGA resolution and connectivity wise is equipped with a microUSB slot, Bluetooth, and a TV-out jack. The TV-out jack is not only for browsing your pictures on a large screen but also can be used for exciting features such as TV video calls and TV video conference calls. The device is further equipped with a FM radio with RDS and a microSD memory slot with support of up to 4GB memory cards.When it comes to design, the Nokia 6500 slide doesn't fail to impress, too. The body has a brushed stainless steel finish plus some clear hard coating which should prevent scratches and fingerprints.

Both handsets are due to hit the market Q3 this year.
