Vodafone customers will be able to watch live television channels and sports games from February, as Sky TV pushes further into the mobile phone market.
Sky Mobile TV will bundle eight channels in one package, including Sky Sport, CNN and MTV.
The service, available on 3G phones, will cost $2.50 a week for unlimited use, with no data charges.
The CNN, MTV, the Discovery channel, E! and the Cartoon Network channels will be live-streamed and edited for mobile phones. This means content constantly changes and customers will tune in as they do with a normal television rather than select specific clips to view.
The edited shows will be shorter than on television, typically between five to seven minutes long.
Sky Sports and Sky News will have 15-minute clips running continuously, updated as news happens. Subscribers can also watch movie trailers from Sky Movies.
Live sports, including rugby, cricket and European football, will be available on a pay-per-view basis for a premium not yet set.
Charlie Clementson, head of Vodafone Live, said the service was different from downloading on-demand clips.
"This is turning your mobile phone into TV."
